Homelands is a registered Residential EMI (Elderly Mentally Infirmed) Care Home situated in the seaside resort of Bognor Regis in West Sussex, which specialises in the care of residents with Alzheimer’s and other forms of Dementia. Located on a residential road, just minutes from the seafront promenade, town centre and amenities, with the historic cities of Chichester and Arundel easily accessible in less than 30 minutes by car or public transport, Homelands provides a warm and caring home for elderly members of our community who are no longer able to live independently and we welcome male and female residents of 55 years and over.
We are able to provide either short term respite care or long term care, not only to residents originating from the local surrounding area, but from all other regions of the UK who wish to live with us in West Sussex. Prior to a new resident joining us, we carry out a full assessment of their needs, preferences, medical conditions and personality. On arrival, our friendly team of staff make every effort to settle a newcomer into the home as moving to a new home is a process which can be disorientating for an elderly individual unless handled with genuine care and understanding.
Homelands was started in October 1984 by Tony and Greta Puttick as a Residential Retirement Home in a semi-detached Edwardian property. After being in business for a year, the Home was expanded with the purchase of the adjoining property. In April 1987, Nursing Registration was granted and this status remained until July 1991, when the Homelands chose to de-registered from Nursing in favour of being a dedicated Residential EMI Care Home.
At present, Homelands is registered for twenty residents and consists of fourteen single rooms, three double rooms (for those who do not wish to be alone), two living rooms, a separate dining room, several toilets (including two recently refurbished bathrooms), equipped to assist less mobile residents. Homelands also has a delightful enclosed rear garden, which is accessible from both the lounge and dining room.
Homelands is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) – formerly known as CSCI – and is very proud to have received a ‘Good Rating’ (gaining two out of a possible three stars for our care), from them following our most recent inspection in October 2008. Our most recent inspection report can by viewed and downloaded by clicking on the link on the left hand side of this page or alternatively by visiting the CQC website: www.cqc.org.uk
